ORDER, BEAUTY AND WORSHIP

I Corinthians 14:33 & 40

One of the elements that make beauty is order.  When God created the universe, there was order in the sequence of created events.  There was order in the division of opposites and functionality within each act.  There was purpose in each distinctive part of creation.  God did not just create elements with no function or purpose.

What makes the creation account fascinating is that God created the natural order without materials.  There were no paintbrushes, colors or canvases.  When we create, we only arrange elements that already exist, but when God created, he created out of nothing.  All of us have a built-in sense of order.  We might not know how to articulate what we are feeling, but we know when something is in order and when it is not.  When there is an absence of order, there is a loss of beauty.  When someone has not taken the time to organize, there is disruption.  Order is the foundation of beauty.

The result of an orderly worship service is a strengthen church.  In a worship service, members should praise the Lord; they should be edified as well.  If the body of Christ is not being strengthened, the congregational worship service is the culprit.  There must be order!  We must prepare for HIS presence.
